Dufftown is the Malt Whisky Capital of the world and the visitor centres at Glenfiddich and Balvenie Distilleries offer an in-depth history of whisky making and guided tours and nosings.

In May and September Dufftown hosts two whisky festivals where many distilleries that do not usually offer tours open their doors for special events.

A short distance from Glenfiddich Distillery is the ruin of Balvenie Castle - one of many historic buildings in the town and one of 2 castles.

Close to Glenfiddich Distillery isDufftown Railway Station where you can enjoy a short trip from Dufftown to Keith on one of the most northerly heritage railways in Scotland. While in the market town of Keith you can take a tour of Strathisla Distillery or visit the Tartan Museum.

For the more energetic Dufftown has an 18-hole golf course - which is one of the highest in Scotland and has stunning scenic views from many of the holes.

Dufftown has two rivers that offer fishing opportunities for the angler. Permits for both the river Fiddich and the river Dullan are available locally. Also close by fishing can be had at Loch Park near Drummuir, the trout fishery at Glen Rothes, Rothes and of course the world famous River Spey is only a short distance away.

Skiing is available during the winter at the Lecht Ski Centre, approx 30 mins from Dufftown and at Aviemore less than an hour away. Nordic ski centre at Huntly.

Dufftown makes an ideal base for touring the wider area. Take in the Castle Trail, the Malt Whisky Trail, the Coastal Trail and a little further away the Victorian Heritage Trail through Royal Deeside.

Dufftowns Highland Games are held on the last Saturday of July where you can see all the traditional events and massed pipe bands.
